Linssen Yachts: 50th BOOT Dusseldorf was one of the best!
BOOT 2019 was historic for both the organisers and Linssen Yachts B.V.
50 years of BOOT and 70 years of Linssen Yachts are amazing milestones. There are just as few trade show organisers as yachtbuilders who can look back on such a consistent development.
As Yvonne Linssen said during a festive break on the Linssen stand in hall 17: “We have been participating at BOOT since 1970 and we are now here with the third generation. Like in every marriage, the partnership with Messe Düsseldorf has had it ups and downs, partly due to the cyclical market in which we participate. But during high points and low points, that partnership was consistently focused on the common goal of promoting our sector professionally. We still learn from one another every day and we have a close exchange of experiences and ideas.”
Yvonne and Wendy Linssen surprised BOOT representatives Petros Michelidakis, Viktoria Marx and Arne von Heimendahl with a huge birthday cake with decorations celebrating 50 years of BOOT and 70 years of Linssen Yachts as a symbol of both anniversaries.
Project Manager Petros Michelidakis commented as follows. “Partly thanks to the participation of a stable and high-quality business such as Linssen Yachts, we have been able to attract many international visitors. The close cooperation with the Linssen Family is warm and unique. They are one of the foundations on which we have built up BOOT in 50 years to what it is now. Together, we look beyond the product. Developing sailing areas, market trends such as yacht charter and encouraging young people to take to the water, are strategic considerations that we can debate with Linssen. We thank Linssen for the many years of perfect partnership!”
This festive BOOT 2019 was characterised by an encouraging number of visitors to the Linssen stand, which broke the BOOT 2012 record in hall 17: 3,650 registered visitors and definite sales totalling approx. EUR 2.1 million!
In contrast to the report "BOOT Düsseldorf: dealers are pessimistic’’, we can only state that both the boatyard and its international dealers were very enthusiastic about the participation at BOOT 2019!
In addition to displaying almost the entire range of models in hall 17, Linssen was also represented in halls 13 and 14.
The international charter network of Linssen Yachts, Linssen Boating Holidays®, was present in hall 13 to inform visitors about sailing holidays on a Linssen Yacht at many splendid locations in Europe. The network now includes 16 partners – which involves a fleet of about 80 Linssens – from 10 different countries. The idea of offering interested parties the possibility to charter a boat before actually buying one is very much appreciated. Potential buyers can experience sailing with their partners, family and/or friends at their leisure, before indicating what they do or do not want.
Customers can also buy a boat and then entrust it to one of the LBH charter bases (the Buy & Charter formula). The charter revenues help to cover the operational costs. Every independent LBH partner offers a specific formula geared to the sailing area and market.
Moreover, Linssen Boating Holidays® was represented in the Inland Waterways Pavilion in Hall 14 under the auspices of IWI – Inland Waterways International – (www.inlandwaterwaysinternational.org), where 13 exhibitors from five countries introduced their sailing areas and services to the public. IWI promotes inland waterways in the broadest sense as an attractive and fully-fledged tourist destination, as well as the important role played by inland waterways with regard to the economy and job prospects.
