Despite the troublesome times, Linssen’s production can continue. The yachts that come out of the production can be handed over to their new owner and transported to their destination. Today Grand Sturdy 40.0 AC 'Eilean' will go on to transport to her owner in Switzerland.

Monday 16 March 2020 was the handover of Grand Sturdy 40.0 AC 'Lady Gloria' formerly known as 'Henri Mer', the yacht of Yvonne and Paul Linssen-Smits. Despite the current situation, the new owners Kathy and Len from London, felt safe coming to Linssen for the hand over and staying on board their yacht.

These are turbulent and uncertain times. As a family business, we are very concerned about the developments surrounding the coronavirus and the impact it is having on our society. We therefore want to support everyone who is personally and/or professionally affected by this.

At Linssen Yachts, we strictly follow the advice of the Dutch government. For the time being, our showroom is open as usual to help you where and how we can.

Do you belong to a high-risk group, are you not allowed or unable to travel, or would you prefer not to come to Maasbracht as a precaution? We fully understand that, of course. Fortunately, you can also contact us remotely in various ways.

This can be done via our usual telephone number, but also via the direct number of your contact person. Or via skype, WhatsApp, video calls or the chat function on our website.

Let's get this situation under control together, so that in a while we can get back to our normal lives.

Since this year, the production of steel motor yachts at Linssen Yachts in Maasbracht has become even more efficient. The production lines and processes had already been redesigned and it was the turn of the warehouse during the holidays. Partly thanks to a new roller conveyor, the staff can work more efficiently, more ergonomically and more environmentally friendly. And more punctual than ever. However, the warehouse first had to be drastically modified.

The redesign of the central warehouse on Brouwersstraat street meant a major change within the Linssen boatyard, where some 30 to 35 yachts are continuously in production. The warehouse was converted into a 'Logimag', a warehouse (‘magazijn’ in Dutch) that is fully equipped for efficient logistics and operations. It fits in perfectly with Linssen Yachts' Logistics and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (Logicam) flow production technology.

Redesign was necessary
Logicam processes made the production of the yachts more efficient, faster and more sophisticated over the years. This meant that products and parts were increasingly needed just in time. A redesign was necessary. It was therefore high time to improve the warehouse and work processes and to make way for a large roller conveyor for packages and pallets.

Advantages of roller conveyor
The roller conveyor increases efficiency. As a result, incoming packages with materials can be unpacked, checked and booked in the order 'first in first out' (FIFO). That fact that the materials roll back automatically is convenient, as it means that the warehouse employees can store everything in the right place in one go. This saves a lot of time. Pallets with materials can also be unpacked, checked and booked in FIFO order on the roller conveyor. At the end of the conveyor, a lifting table has been built in. This allows warehouse employees to unpack the pallets at their own working height in an ergonomically responsible manner.

Other improvements
In order to create space for the new roller conveyor, obsolete materials were sold and a separate after-sales warehouse was set up. In addition, walls were moved and scaffolding was arranged more logically, also with a view to greater efficiency. All the materials needed for one yacht will be stored together from now on. This means that staff will spend less time having to search. For this reason, task-oriented working has been introduced in the warehouse. Only the materials for one specific task are brought to the production line and not all at once. This also results in less waste on the shop floor. In addition, a packing table has been placed in order to prepare materials for dispatch more quickly. And last but not least: we now work digitally – paperless – in the warehouse, which is good for the environment!

More punctual than ever
The more efficient design of the warehouse and the work processes allow the current crew to continue with the warehouse work. What's more, the work is now being carried out more punctually and in a more sophisticated manner than ever before!

Linssen Yachts Bodensee invites you to the name change celebration on Friday 14 February. Linssen Yachts Bodensee will then become 'Die Werft'.

Recently, Linssen Yachts has invested in and installed a new hi-tech veneer edging machine  to use in their yard's internal furniture factory, where the pre-fabrication and assembly of the entire interior for all Linssen models takes place.

The new CNC machine - custom-built in New Zealand - is capable of automatically finishing the ends of the free-form panels, such as curves, ellipses and multi-formed shapes, with a 2 mm thick veneer strip. The machine delivers a high quality veneer to a standard that cannot be achieved by hand.

Linssen Yachts deliberately chooses to provide interior elements with curves. This not only creates a harmonious and stylish, quiet interior but in addition the rounded corners are functional . They ensure that the crew and their guests can move safely through the ship, even when the water is rougher.

The investment in the new CNC machine improves quality, safety and efficiency, making Linssen Yachts even more attractive.

The Linssen Grand Sturdy 35.0 Sedan has been nominated for European Powerboat of the Year 2020 in the displacement category.

This award is based on the opinions of leading international boating journalists from Germany, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands, France and Austria, who nominate products in various categories. They assess on the basis of quality, product innovation, price/quality relationship, sailing characteristics and construction.

The award will be presented during the opening ceremony of Boot Düsseldorf on Saturday 18 January 2020.

Our two in-house shows are probably already on your agenda: the Linssen River Trials (11-14 October) and the Linssen Yachts Boat Show (16-18 November).

During the River Trials you can get to know and test our previously announced new yachts, the Grand Sturdy 35.0 AC and Sedan and the Grand Sturdy 480 AC Variotop®, among other things. 11 October SRC (Short Range Certificate) VHF radio course

• The RYA SRC VHF Marine radio course is a one day training in the use of VHF, EPIRB, SART and DSC. On Friday October 11 you can participate in this SRC VHF radio course given by Aquaplanning at Linssen Yachts. This is the way to obtain your GMDSS VHF radio operating certificate. The SRC is accepted worldwide.
• Location: Linssen Yachts conference room showroom
• Cost: € 245,- (to be paid upon registration via the website of Aquaplanning.org) and examination and certificate costs: £60 (± €72), to be paid at the RYA on the course day.
• This course is given in English!

In addition to the Grand Sturdy 450 AC Variotop® introduced at the end of last year and Linssen Yachts' flagship, the Grand Sturdy 500 AC Variotop®, this line will now be extended with the Grand Sturdy 480 AC Variotop®.

Perfect dimensions

With a length of 14.95 m and a width of 4.65 m, it is larger than the 450 so that three sleeping cabins are possible, but slightly shorter and narrower than the 500. Just like the 500, the Grand Sturdy 480 AC Variotop® has six permanent sleeping places in three cabins, a spacious saloon with an L-shaped bench and a large starboard galley. The port side features the dinette and a spacious cupboard unit. The dimensions of the 480 have been chosen in such a way that sailing on European inland waterways, as well as in coastal and marine areas presents no problem. It is shorter, narrower and lower than the 500 and therefore almost all inland waterways can be sailed with this imposing vessel. Without compromising on luxury, comfort and safety compared to the 500, the new Grand Sturdy 480 AC Variotop® is slightly more manoeuvrable on the various inland waterways.

The Linssen Variotop® – a steering salon that combines both inside and outside steering positions – is unique in yacht building. The concept that Linssen has been applying since 1996 has been technically developed to such an extent that it is not only being used in the 450 and 500, but now in the 480 too, making it a fully-fledged yacht series.

PRESENTATION

Linssen will be introducing the Grand Sturdy 480 AC Variotop® at its annual Boat Show in November (16, 17 and 18 November).

After we announced the new Grand Sturdy 35.0 (AC and Sedan) last month, we can present you with another scoop this month: the new Grand Sturdy 480 AC Variotop®.

The flagship of Linssen Yachts, the Grand Sturdy 500 AC Variotop®, has been the icon when it comes to motor yachts of around 15-16 metres since 1996. The Linssen-Variotop® - still unique in the market - gives it a very special appearance, but is also extremely fun.

For anyone who wants to cruise more on the inland waterways and and have the comfort of the Variotop®, the Grand Sturdy 480 AC Variotop® is now available. With 14.95 x 4.65 m it is just a little bit more compact than the 500, but it does have room for three sleeping cabins, a spacious saloon, a dinette and a galley.

Linssen Yachts will continue to lead the way as you've come to expect from us. The next generation Grand Sturdy 35.0 (AC and Sedan) is on the starting blocks. In an innovative, fresh INTERO style. A style in which everything revolves around light and space.

The flowing lines of the silhouette reveal themselves in the beautifully curved three-part window. These create a lot of light in the interior, so the color structure from floor to ceiling for an optimal spatial experience.

Summer is the time to be on the water. That is why Linssen Yachts delivers many yachts to their new owners in the spring. From January to the end of July, no fewer than 61 new and 26 pre-owned Linssen yachts were delivered, with 19 and 18 yachts in April and May respectively. Sometimes there were even two deliveries in one day.

Every new Linssen is officially commissioned before delivery. The engine or engines are adjusted and calibrated. The navigation equipment, depth gauge, GPS, etc. are adjusted and all the technical components are checked during a test sailing. The yacht is inspected in minute detail and everything is tested again. It is then thoroughly washed on the outside and the interior is thoroughly cleaned and the yacht is ready to be handed over.

The transfer of a new or pre-owned Linssen yacht always takes a full day, so that every detail can be properly explained and every question can be answered and every test can be carried out together with the owner. In addition to the technical explanation, there is also time for a pleasant lunch and the official handover with a glass of champagne and a photo. The transfer usually ends with a trial run on the Limburg Meuse, in which the sailing characteristics are also discussed.

Linssen Yachts builds approximately 70 steel motor yachts every year, which are delivered to customers throughout Europe and America. These yachts are developed entirely in-house and built at the boatyard in Maasbracht. Deliveries are not just made in the spring, but in principle throughout the year.

On 25 June, Yvonne Linssen and Ed Houben of Linssen Yachts BV signed the contract in Paris with Serge Naïm and Ophélie Barrière of Locaboat Holidays for a follow-up order of ten yachts. Production will start immediately after the summer and the yachts will be delivered from January 2020.

Locaboat is one of the largest players in the charter industry and now charters about 380 self-drive motor yachts from many magnificent locations across Europe. Since autumn 2017, Linssen Yachts has delivered 28 motor yachts of the jointly developed Pénichette Evolution type to Locaboat Holidays to strengthen and partially replace its European rental fleet. Confidence in the quality, reliability, dependable technology and excellent service were important reasons why Locaboat again opted for Linssen.

The first Pénichette Evolution from this new order will be presented at BOOT Düsseldorf in January 2020 at the Locaboat stand as part of the Inland Waterways Pavilion under the auspices of Inland Waterways International (IWI).
